On September 13th (on Saturday) the famous Isle of Man based company Microgaming will hold the first ever Soap Box Race in the city of Douglas. The money gathered during the contest will be used for buying a Hyperbaric Chamber for the Isle of Man hospital.
The participants will make their own Soap Box vehicles with no motors but with a lot of fantasy. And then they will join the downhill race and become a champion. Well, at least one of them will. But it will be not only about speed, since the most creative designer of a Soap Box will receive a special prize from Microgaming too.
The race will start at the Upper Church Street to roll down to Barrack Street through the Courthouse, Bar George, the Rover’s Return and the Outback. So as you see the route will include Isle’s most interesting landmarks and provide great viewing points for the supporters. All are invited to come and cheer up their favorite vehicle driver!
The organizer of the event is a local fireman Elliot Moore. He believes that the Isle of Man inhabitants lack an event like this and would love to take part in it. And now with the support of local 3FM radio station and such a giant as Microgaming his undertake is sure to become a success. So we wish luck to all he Soap Box Race participants and thank the sponsors for the opportunity to hold it.
